Airborne particles have been collected using Gent dichotomous sampler at Kwabenya about 24 km from the centre of Accra. The study covered the period from July to December 2006. The particles were separated into two fractions (coarse and fine). The sampling time for each collection was 24h. Only gravimetric analysis was done to identify the inhalable particulate level i.e. PM10 (coarse + fine). From the variations in Coarse-Fine fractions, soil was found to be the main source of aerosol particles. The 1 year (July 2006 to June 2007) averages for the Coarse and Fine were 141.768 μg/m3 and 77.430 μg/m3 which are higher than the annual set values in Ghana and international standards. (au)
